Travel overseas without the need for a passport!
Only 33miles long x 13miles wide the Isle of Man has often been described as the ‘Jewel in the Irish Sea’ or one of Britain’s best kept secrets. Independent in thought and action, the Island offers a unique blend of history, tradition and culture, with strong Celtic and Viking influences giving the world its longest continuous parliament, the Tynwald, dating back to 979. As well as its own Government, the Island also has its own currency, stamps and is reviving and promoting the traditional Manx language.
There can be few locations that offer as much. Varying landscapes offer breathtaking scenery that encourage travelers to explore whether walking, cycling or driving, or using the traditional Victorian steam railway, electric railway or horse drawn trams in Douglas, the Island’s capital. Travel and enjoy the Island’s many unique attractions, heritage centres, castles and museums, sport and leisure facilities or the world famous TT races.
The Island’s standing as one of the world’s premier offshore
financial centres, allows the expanding business community to flourish
alongside the traditional Manx industries, tourism, agriculture, fishing
and light industry. New opportunities arising from the Island’s
increasing reputation as a film production, e-business, e-gaming and the
space industry location of choice, maintain its position at the forefront
of commercial activity.
Visitors to the Island can travel from a variety of locations within the
United Kingdom by sea or air, or beyond if cruising on one of the many
ships to anchor in Douglas harbour.
